Traditional lead-acid batteries are becoming a thing of the past when it comes to powering RVs. Lately, lithium batteries have proven themselves to be safer, more reliable and more cost-effective than their lead-acid counterparts.
It’s easy to be prejudiced against using lithium batteries in your RV. You may have heard that it can be difficult to replace traditional batteries without damaging your electrical circuits. You may also be wary due to the association between lithium batteries and fires. However, we are going to reassure you that lithium batteries are the optimal solution for your RV!
Why choose lithium batteries over traditional batteries?
- Lithium batteries are more cost-effective than traditional batteries. Despite their higher price point, you can expect a lithium battery to last for 10 years or more in your RV. A traditional set of batteries would last you two to three years at best. In addition to this, lithium batteries require no extra maintenance which traditional ones do.
- Lithium batteries supply more power to your RV. Whereas traditional batteries need to maintain at least a 50% charge level to supply power, a lithium battery can provide the same amount of power even when 85% depleted. You can enjoy the electrical components of your RV for longer periods with a lithium battery.
- They are lighter and do not emit any fumes. When installed properly, lithium batteries are perfectly safe in your RV. They also weigh around a third of traditional batteries. We recommend that you get them installed by a professional RV electrician, to ensure they are integrated with your electrics correctly.
